SCRIPTURE on the theme of Work
YHWH Elohim took Adam (man), and put him into the garden of Pleasure (Eden) to dress it and to keep it.
Therefore YHWH Elohim sent Adam out of the garden of Eden, to work the ground from where Adam had been taken.
Eve then bore Cain's brother Abel. Abel was a sheep-herder; Cain worked the soil.
Adah birthed Jabal, the father of tent-dwellers and cattle-raisers.
Zillah also birthed Tubal-cain: a master-mechanic/forger of brass and iron. Tubal-cain had a sister: Naamah.
They said one to another, "Come help: let's make brick, and burn them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and tar for mortar.
Six days shall you labor, and do all your work:
2nd Kings 15:36
Jotham's other acts and accomplishments, are they not written in the book: chronicles of the kings of Judah?
People [of] Elohim, go up to Jerusalem in Judah! Build the house of YHWH Elohim of Israel, Elohim [of] Jerusalem.
Then I told them of the hand of my Elohim which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken to me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
Then EliYahhib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and they built the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even to the tower of Meah they sanctified it, to the tower of Hananeel.
But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
And next to them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, to the throne of the governor on this side the river.
Next to him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths. Next to him also repaired Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem to the broad wall.
And next to them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem.
So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together to the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
So we labored in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.
So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
And their brothers that did the work of the house were eight hundred twenty and two: and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchiah,
And their brothers, mighty men of valor, a hundred twenty and eight: and their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of one of the great men.
Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen.
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
He who gathers in summer is a wise son: but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.
He who works his land shall be filled with bread: but he who follows vanities is empty-hearted.
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the lazy shall be taxed.
Wealth gotten by vanity shall disappear: but he who gathers by labor shall increase.
Where no oxen are, the feed-trough is empty; much increase is by the strength of the ox.
In all labor there is profit: but the talk of the lips tends only to deficiency.
The toiling soul labors for himself; his mouth makes him bend over [to work].
Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
Diligent thoughts make plenty; hasty thoughts make poverty.
You see a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings; he won't serve before obscure men.
Prepare your work [operation] outside; make your fields ready; afterwards build your house.
note: Young Amish people live in their workshops until they can build living quarters. Build the barn first, then the house.
Whoso keeps the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he who waits on his master shall be honored.
Lambs are for your clothing; the goats are the price of the field.
note: One interpretation: animals are good to have for an independent source of clothing; and the value of a farm is not in the land itself (real estate) but in the value of the harvest (in animals) which you can reap from the land.
He who works his land shall have plenty of bread: but he who follows after vain persons shall have abundant poverty.
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;
The spider (or lizard)'s hands seize hold in kings' palaces.
The virtuous wife seeks wool and flax, and works willingly with her hands.
The virtuous wife is like the merchants' ships; she brings her food from afar.
The virtuous wife perceives that her profit is good: her candle doesn't go out at night.
note: Double meanings: She counts/tastes her profit / and or tends to her products, even late at night. AND/OR the more fun, and in context with the previous verse: She knows her body rocks; she keeps her husband on fire in the night.
The virtuous wife lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
The virtuous wife makes coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
The virtuous wife makes fine linen, and sells it; and delivers sashes to the merchant.
There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of Elohim.
And YHWH stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of JAHshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of YHWH of hosts, their Elohim,
And Yahshua, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew Peter's brother, casting a net into the sea: for Peter and Andrew were fishers.
And it happened, that while ZachariYah executed the priest's office before Elohim in the order of his course,
According to the custom of the priest's office, ZachariYah's lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of Adonai.
Therefore said Yahshua to the seventy, "The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray you therefore the Adonai of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.
And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
But Martha was encumbered with much serving, and came to Yahshua, and said, "Adonai, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Bid Mary therefore that she help me."
And it happened, when Yahshua arrived close to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, Yahshua sent two of his disciples,
I must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work.
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
I have glorified you on the earth: I have finished the work which you gave me to do.
Simon Peter said to the disciples, "I go a fishing." The disciples said to Simon Peter, "We also go with you." They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
While these prophets and teachers were serving Adonai and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.'
And because Paul was a tentmaker as they were, Paul stayed with Aquila and Priscilla, and worked.
note: Paul did not spend that much time making tents. He was too busy evangelizing. People use this tent-making verse to justify their lives of worldly employment to fund their residential fruitless consumerism. A believer is to give his life fully to the work of the Gospel.
You know how my own hands have supplied what I and my companions needed.
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Adonai Yahshua himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'
Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Adonai;
For we are YAH's workmanship, created in MessiYah Yahshua to good works, which Elohim has before ordained that we should walk in.
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
note: Giftings, not "offices."
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of MessiYah:
Let him who stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him who needs.
Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of MessiYah, doing the will of Elohim from the heart;
With good will doing service, as to the Adonai, and not to men:
Servants, in all things obey your bodily masters; not with "sight-labor" (only when you're being watched), as [fawning] menpleasers; but in sincerity of heart, fearing Elohim:
And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as for Adonai, and not for men;
Knowing that of Adonai you shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for you serve Adonai MessiYah.
1st Thessalonians 4:11
And that you study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
1st Thessalonians 4:12
That you may walk honestly toward them who are without, and that you may have lack of nothing.
2nd Thessalonians 3:8
Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labor and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
2nd Thessalonians 3:12
Now they who are such we command and exhort by our Adonai Yahshua MessiYah, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
1st Timothy 6:2
And servants who have believing masters, let the servant not despise the master, because they are brothers; but rather do the master service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
Exhort servants to be obedient to their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not contradicting.
1 Maccabees 4:43
Who cleansed the sanctuary, and bare out the defiled stones into an unclean place.
1 Maccabees 4:47
Then the priests took whole stones according to the law, and built a new altar just like the former altar;
1 Maccabees 4:48
And made up the sanctuary, and the things that were within the temple, and hallowed the courts.
1 Maccabees 4:49
The priests made also new holy vessels, and into the temple they brought the candlestick, and the altar of burnt offerings, and of incense, and the table.
1 Maccabees 4:50
And upon the altar the priests burned incense, and the lamps that were upon the candlestick they lighted, that they might give light in the temple.
1 Maccabees 4:51
Furthermore the priests set the loaves upon the table, and spread out the veils, and finished all the works which they had begun to make.
1 Maccabees 4:52
Now on the twenty fifth day of the ninth month, called Casleu, in the hundred forty and eighth year, the priests rose up before the morning,
1 Maccabees 4:57
They decked also the forefront of the temple with crowns of gold, and with shields; and the gates and the chambers they renewed, and hanged doors upon them.
