SCRIPTURE on the theme of Obedience
Thus did Noah; according to all that Elohim commanded him, so did Noah.
And Noah did according to all that YHWH commanded him.
And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:
Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creeps upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.
For I know Abraham, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of YHWH, to do justice and judgment; that YHWH may bring upon Abraham that which he has spoken of Abraham."
And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which Elohim had told him.
And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
And they came to the place which Elohim had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
note: One wonders if this traditional telling is really the correct translation?
And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
And the angel said, "Lay not your hand upon the boy, do nothing: now I know that you fear Elohim; you have not withheld your son, your only."
And in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice.
And Abraham said to him, Beware you that you bring not my son there again.
YHWH Elohim of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spoke to me, and that swore to me, saying, to your seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife to my son from thence.
And if the woman will not be willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son there again.
Jacob's mother said, "[Upon me be your] curse, my son. Just obey my voice, and go fetch me the goats.
But if you shall indeed obey my angel's voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries.
Thus did Moses: according to all that YHWH commanded Moses, so did he.
And you answered me, and said, "The thing which you have spoken is good for us to do."
As we fully obeyed to Moses, so we will hearken to you. YHWH Elohim be with you, as He was with Moses.
Command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, 'When you come to the brink of the water of Jordan, stand still in the Jordan.
The children of Israel did as JAHshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the middle of Jordan, as YHWH spoke to JAHshua, (12: the number of the tribes of the children of Israel), and carried the stones over to the place where they lodged, and laid the stones down.
JAHshua set up twelve stones [out of] the middle of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there to this day.
1st Kings 15:5
Because David did that which was right in the eyes of YHWH, and turned not aside from any thing that YAH commanded him all the days of his life, except only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
1st Kings 15:14
But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with YHWH all his days.
2nd Kings 15:3
And AzariYah did right in the sight of YHWH, according to all that his father AmaziYah had done;
The assembly found written in the law which YHWH had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in tents in the 7th month-feast.
and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, "Go forth to the mountain[s], and fetch branches of olive, pine, and myrtle, palms, and thick trees, to make booths [shelters], as it is written.
So the people went out, and brought branches, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courtyards, and in the courts of the house of Elohim, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street by the gate of Ephraim.
All the company that had returned from captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of JAHhua son of Nun to that day the children of Israel had not celebrated in this way. And there was very great gladness.
note: A whole society going into the country and making little forts like children, to relive the days of their ancestors wandering in the desert. How fun, for the children at least!
For I have kept the ways of YHWH, and have not wickedly departed from my Elohim.
All the paths of YHWH are mercy and truth to those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
Examine me, YHWH, prove me; try my mind and heart.
Keep my commandments, and live; [guard] my law like [you guard] the pupil of your eye.
note: You don't let anything risk poking out your eye; so why risk losing your spiritual sight by letting go of the Word of Life? Study the Scriptures!
Bind [my commandments] upon your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart.
The wise in heart will accept commandments: but a chattering fool shall fall.
Whoever despises the word shall be destroyed: but he who fears the commandment shall be rewarded.
Keep commandments: keep your soul; despise The Way: you die.
The Law-keeper is a wise son: but a companion of riotous men shames his father.
For to a man who is good in Elohim's sight, Elohim gives wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner Elohim gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that the sinner may give to him who is good before Elohim: Vanity and chasing the wind.
If you be willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land:
So HoseYAH went and married Gomer the daughter of Diblaim. Gomer got pregnant, and bore a son.
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and JAHshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of YHWH their Elohim, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as YHWH their Elohim had sent him, and the people feared before YHWH.
And Joseph arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
Enter you in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Not every one that said to me, "Adonai, Adonai," shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.
He who is not with me is against me; and he who gathers not with me scatters abroad.
While Yahshua yet talked to the people, behold, Yahshua's mother and his brothers stood outside, desiring to speak with him.
Then one said to Yahshua, "Behold, your mother and your brothers stand without, desiring to speak with you."
But Yahshua answered and said to him who told him, "Who is my mother? and who are my brothers?
For whoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."
And Yahshua said to him, "Why call you me good? there is no one good but one, that is, YHVH: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments."
note: Yahshua did not say, "Repeat this prayer of salvation after me and you will have assurance of salvation." Yahshua said that eternal life is gained by active obedience to the commandments of YAH.
And the disciples went, and did as Yahshua commanded them,
And brought the donkey, and the colt, and put their clothes on the animals, and set Yahshua thereon.
But what do you think? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, 'Son, go work to day in my vineyard.'
The son answered and said, 'I will not.' But afterward the son repented, and went to work.
And the disciples did as Yahshua had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
And Yahshua went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will.
Yahshua went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, "O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, your will be done."
And there beholding afar off were many women who had followed Yahshua from Galilee, ministering to him:
Among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
When the evening had come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Yahshua's disciple:
And Yahshua looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, "Behold my mother and my brothers!
For whoever shall do the will of Elohim, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother."
And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, Yahshua's disciples asked Yahshua, "Where do you desire that we go and prepare, so that you may eat the passover?"
And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
And Yahshua's disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as Yahshua had said to them: and they made ready the passover.
And Yahshua said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to you; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what you will."
And Simon answering said to Yahshua, "Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at your word I will let down the net."
Whoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like:
He is like a man which built an house, and dug deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
And Yahshua answered and said to them, "My mother and my brothers are these which hear the word of Elohim, and do it."
And so the disciples made the multitude sit down.
Then Yahshua took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, Yahshua blessed the food, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples to set before the multitude.
And the multitude ate, and were all filled: and there were taken up to the disciples twelve baskets of food fragments that remained.
But Yahshua said, "Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of YHVH, and keep it."
And the servant said, "Adonai, it is done as you have commanded, and yet there is room."
And Peter and John said to Yahshua, "Where do you want us to prepare?"
And Peter and John went, and found as Yahshua had said to them: and they made ready the passover.
Saying, "Father, if you be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done."
One of the two which heard Yohannon (John) speak, and followed Yahshua, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
Yahshua's mother said to the servants, "Whatsoever Yahshua says to you, do it."
note: For those who venerate Mary, we say we also honor Mary because she commanded us to perfectly obey Yahshua.
Yahshua said to the servants, "Fill the waterpots with water." And the servants filled the pots up to the brim.
In the meanwhile Yahshua's disciples urged him, saying, "Master, eat."
But Yahshua said to his disciples, "I have meat to eat that you know not of."
Yahshua said to his disciples, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to finish his work."
Then answered Yahshua and said to the Jews, "Truly, truly, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do: for whatsoever things the Father does, these also does the Son likewise.
For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of Him who sent me.
And this is the will of Father who has sent me, that of all that He has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
Then said Yahshua to those Jews which believed on him, "If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;
If you love me, keep my commandments.
Yahshua answered and said to Judah, If a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our abode with him.
He who does not love me does not keeps my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.
You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you.
So when they had dined, Yahshua said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonas, love you me more than these?" Simon Peter said to Yahshua, "Yea, Adonai; you know that I love you." Yahshua said to Simon Peter, "Feed my lambs."
Until the day in which Yahshua was taken up, after Yahshua through the Holy Spirit gave commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen:
But in every nation he who fears YHVH, and works righteousness, is accepted by YHVH.
note: The gospel is to draw men out of every nation into the Kingdom of Heaven. Those who expect to be accepted by the Creator must BOTH fear Him and DO works of righteousness.
I answered, "What shall I do, Adonai?" And Adonai said to me, "Arise, and go into Damascus; and there you will be told all the things which are appointed for you to do."
So then, king Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven.
Then the soldiers cut the ropes to the lifeboat, and let it fall [and drift away.]
For it's not those who hear the law who are righteous in Elohim's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be justified.
What then? Shall we sin, because we are not legally bound, but under grace? Not at all!
note: Come on! What nonsense! "Sin is the transgression of the law." (1 John 3:4) We honor the principles of the Mosaic code because that code was given to the Israelites by our Father in heaven.
Don't you know that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, you are slaves of the one you obey; Whether slaves of sin [rushing] to death, or obedient servants of righteousness?
note: When you pledge allegiance to a nation or promise to obey the motor vehicle code, or all of the laws of the State, you are making yourself a slave to a worldly master. No man can serve two masters.
But thank Elohim that though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the pattern of teaching to which you were entrusted.
You were set free from sin and have become servants of righteousness.
For Moses describes the righteousness which is by the law: That the man who follows the commands shall live by them.
Children, obey your parents in Adonai: for this is right.
And being found in fashion as a man, Yahshua humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of MessiYah Yahshua.
Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing to Adonai.
1st Timothy 6:14
That you keep this injunction without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Adonai Yahshua MessiYah:
But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
But whoso looks into the perfect law of independence, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
1st John 2:3
And hereby we do know that we know Yahshua, if we keep his commandments.
1st John 2:5
But whoso keeps Yahshua's word, in him truly is the love of Elohim perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1st John 2:6
He who said he abides in Yahshua ought himself also so to walk, even as Yahshua walked.
1st John 2:17
And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he who does the will of Elohim abides for ever.
1st John 3:4
Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
note: Here is one of the most important realizations ever: sin is defined literally as the transgression of the Law. Any departure from any command of YHWH which concerns you is sin. Not just what the people around you think is sin, but what YHWH calls sin. For example, you know adultery is sin, but did you know oaths and agreements (with Non-Hebrews) are sin? Debt is a sin. Partaking in the census is a sin. Signing binding contracts is a sin. Did you know handing over the education of your children to others (teachers) is a sin? Nearly every example of modern life in the so-called 'Christian' world is a transgression of the Law, therefore sin. Change directions (repent) from sin.
1st John 3:23
And this is YAH's commandment: That we should believe on the name of His Son Yahshua MessiYah, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
1st John 3:24
And he who keeps Yahshua's commandments dwells in Yahshua, and Yahshua in him. And hereby we know that Yahshua abides in us, by the Spirit which Yahshua has given us.
note: This is equally true of Yah as it is true of Yahshua.
1st John 5:2
By this we know that we love the children of Elohim, when we love Elohim, and keep his commandments.
note: Only by following the commands of YHWH can we know that we love him. By studying the commands handed to people from Yah through Moses, the Prophets, Yahshua, etc., we show that we love YHWH. If we ignore the commands given to Yah's servants through the ages, even though some confused preacher says those commands are irrelevant because we're saved by grace, we lie and the love of YHWH is not in us.
1st John 5:3
For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
note: YHWH's commands, old and new, are joyous, not grievous. The commands that came through Moses are a delight, if properly understood.
2nd John 1:6
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment: That, as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
note: Agape love refers to feasting; that we are to feed one another, feast-style. Even if it's inconvenient. All commandments to love (agapao) are connected to the Law Of Moses, which specifies in great exhaustive detail how to properly throw magnificent feasts, complete with the finest wines and juices, the finest meats, breads, oils, spices, fruits and vegetables, (cooked to perfection), the finest music, singing, and dancing. Party on!
2nd John 1:9
Whoever transgresses, and abides not in the doctrine of MessiYah, has not Elohim. He who abides in the doctrine of MessiYah, he has both the Father and the Son.
note: If I transgress any commandments of YHWH, I have neither the Son nor the Father.
Apocalypsis (Revelation) 1:3
Blessed is he who reads, and they who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Apocalypsis (Revelation) 22:7
Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he who keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
Apocalypsis (Revelation) 22:14
Blessed are they who do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
1 Maccabees 2:53
Joseph in the time of his distress kept the commandment and was made lord of Egypt.
1 Maccabees 2:55
JAHshua for fulfilling the word was made a judge in Israel.
1 Maccabees 3:60
Nevertheless, as the will of Elohim is in heaven, so let him do."
