The NEW TESTAMENT Specifically includes authority to make INSTRUMENTAL music

The 5 greek words used in the New(er) Testament for music are: psallo, psalmos, humnos, oide, and aido.
"Psallo" and "Psalmos" mean spiritual singing generally accompanied by instruments.
"Humnos" and "oide" (hymns and odes) can be accompanied or acapella (voices only.)
"Aido" means any singing, with or without accompaniment.
None of the above words mean "acapella" (voices only.) Yet all of them could refer to vocal-only music.
As with the words hymn/song/psalm today, the distinctions are fluid and it is quite possible for the same song to be at once psalmos, humnos and ode (Bp. Lightft. on Col-3:16). See Trench, Syn, Syn. sec. lxxviii.)

Definitions from Strong's and other concordances:
Strong's#5567 PSALLO psal'-lo probably strengthened from psao (to rub or touch the surface); (ref. Aeschylus, d. 456 BC).
PSALLO: to twitch or twang, i.e. to pluck on a string; to play on a stringed instrument (celebrate the divine worship with music and accompanying odes):--make melody, sing (psalms). see GREEK for #5597
PSALLO: From psao, to rub, to wipe; to handle, to touch (Thayer): Liddell and Scott.
I. To touch sharply, to pluck, pull. twitch; to twang the bow-string; to send a shaft twanging from the bow;
(psallomene) a carpenter's red line, which is twitched and then let suddenly go, so as to leave a mark.
II. To play a stringed instrument with the fingers, not with the plectron. Later, to sing to the harp. (ref. Aristotle again, Aratus, 270 BC, and Plutarch, d. AD 120)

PSALLO: Equivalent to Hebrew: Zamar.
a. To pluck off, pull out: the hair. b. To cause to vibrate by touching, to twang;(ref. to Euripades, d. 406 BC)
specifically to touch or strike the chord, to touch the strings of a musical instrument, to play the harp, etc. (ref. Aristotle, d. 322 BC, Thayer)

Etymological Evolution of "Psallo": 1. From psao, to rub, to wipe; to handle, to touch. 2. To touch sharply. 3. To pluck off, or pull out, as the hair. 4. To pull, twitch, as a carpenter's line. 5. To twang the bow-string. 6. To send an arrow twanging from the bow. 7. To twang the strings of a musical instrument. 8. To play the harp or other stringed instrument with the fingers. 9. To sing to the accompaniment of the harp or other stringed instrument. 10. To sing (whether accompanied or not) 11. chant

PSALMOS (Strong's#5568) psal-mos'; from PSALLO; a set piece of music, i.e. a sacred ode (accompanied with the voice, harp or other instrument; a "psalm"); collectively, the book of the Psalms: - psalm.

Strong's# 5214 HUMNEO hoom-neh'-o from 5215; to hymn, i.e. sing a religious ode; by implication, to celebrate (God) in song:--sing a hymn (praise unto). The word humneo has no style reference. Could be loud, soft, fast, slow, accompanied, acapella, or anywhere in-between.

Strong's#5603 OIDE o-day' from 103; a chant or "ode" (the general term for any words sung; while 5215 denotes especially a religious metrical composition, and 5568 still more specially, a Hebrew cantillation):--song. (With or without instrumentation.)

Strong's#103 AIDO ad'-o to sing:--sing.

SUMMARY

Above is a fairly comprehensive list of about 365 scriptures on music from the Bible.
When musical style is mentioned, the type of musical style commanded is never 'soft, gentle, quiet, tranquil' or any of the terms you would use to describe traditional church music. (Except that two times the word "solemn" is used.)
Quiet music is never forbidden, but when a style is suggested in the scripture, it is invariably loud and powerful.
This holds true throughout the entire Bible, psalms, prophets, and Books Of Moses, as well as the New Testament.
The commandments regarding musical style center on: 'Shout for joy', dance, make a loud noise, etc.

YHWH likes all kinds of music, but He wants to encourage the religious people to keep the "life" in his worship.

Every single religious group, without exception, betrays at least one of these principles.

To the churches who ignore the verses above, draining life-giving music into bloodless, soul-less vanilla church mush, Yahshua (Jesus) says:
Matthew: "Thus have ye made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draws nigh unto me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10 And Jesus called the multitude, and said unto them, "Hear, and understand"...
12 Then came his disciples, and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13 But Jesus answered and said, "Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."
Mark 7: "For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men... and many other such like things ye do.
9 Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition...
13 Making the word of God of no effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
14 And when Jesus had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand...
16 If any man has ears to hear, let him hear."
